Intro to Jewelry and Metalsmithing

This 6-week class will cover essential metalsmithing skills such as sawing, filing, soldering, riveting, and texturing metal. In addition to these essential fabrication techniques, the science of metallurgy will be touched upon and students will learn why metal behaves the way it does so that they may control it more effectively. Other jewelry techniques will be covered as well, such as setting a cabochon stone through the use of a bezel setting. Students will then use all of these skills to design and produce finished pieces of wearable jewelry. Instructor: Melanie Krauss
