Redesign Institute: Future Forward Schools

The Future Forward Redesign Leadership Institute is a year-long professional learning series that integrates action team planning with a focus on developing future-ready schools and rigorous learning for all students.

Throughout the series, educational leaders will examine criteria necessary for quality systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the 21st century:

  • Curriculum: Programmatic Coherence for Leverage and Endurance Standards

  • Instruction: Applied Learning for Innovation

  • Assessment: Personalized Learning in a Non-Invasive System of Assessment

With the support of business leaders and expert consultants, district leadership teams will engage in key actions to redesign systems for high-leverage impact on meeting global and workforce readiness goals. To build coherency and continuity of service, district leadership teams will make recommendations for implementing research-based design features across all school sites. As teams construct their plan for implementation, they will identify areas for flexibility as well as specific non-negotiables within the future-forward plan.

District and School Leadership teams will:

  • identify priority standards for leverage and endurance that produce high levels of cognitive demand for college and career readiness.

  • create a curriculum guide which defines programmatic coherence for students in grades 3-12 that aligns to global and workforce readiness.

  • establish an effective instructional framework for accelerating achievement outcomes which allow students to demonstrate personal and civic responsibility, global competence, and workplace skill development.

  • develop a non-invasive assessment system that promotes personalized learning within a mastery-based learning model.
