The USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum is closed to the general public on Tuesdays, but you can explore the ship and receive an exclusive behind the scenes guided VIP tour! Visit exhibits and restored spaces such as Combat Information Center (CIC), the Torpedo Workshop, Apollo, and the Island Superstructure. View vintage aircraft and historic spacecraft up close. Tour participants must be at least 13 years old.
No physical tickets will be mailed out. These tours are “Will Call” only.
Task Force VIP Tours are offered on Tuesdays.
$40.00 per adult ($35 for members). Advance reservation and payment required.
The tour starts at 10:00 AM. This Docent-led VIP tour is customizable and designed to accommodate your particular interests.
Cameras are welcome but must have a neck or wrist strap.
Tour participants must wear comfortable shoes. High heels and open-toed shoes are not allowed.
Tour participants must be in good physical health as there will be lots of walking and climbing.
Due to safety reasons, children 12 and under are not permitted on this tour.
The USS Hornet Museum is open 10:00 to 5:00 for regular tours every day except Tuesdays. On Tuesdays we offer a very special 6-hour behind-the-scenes tour for visitors who want an in-depth tour of the entire ship. For more information about the Tuesday VIP tour, click HERE.
VIP Executive Tours are offered to the public all day on Tuesdays only. Tickets are $40 per person. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Tours run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To purchase tickets online, see www.eventbrite.com

Who would be advised not to take a VIP tour?
To see all parts of the ship, you will be required to climb steep ladders. Visitors who cannot negotiate steep ladders or are afraid of small spaces are advised against taking a VIP tour.
Do you offer special prices for seniors or active military?
Tickets cost $40 per person without exception. Museum members receive $5.00 off
What happens if I arrive late?
If you arrive after 10 o'clock, you can still join a tour which is already in progress.
Where do we meet for the tour?
The general admission ramp from the pier is closed on Tuesdays during winter hours. Visitors must enter at the second ramp, and will check in at the Security Desk. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Are visitors allowed to take photographs?
You are welcome to take pictures, but your camera must have a neck or wrist strap. Both hands must be free when climbing or descending ladders.
How should I dress for the tour?
The ship is not heated. Wear warm clothing and sturdy, comfortable shoes.
Will I be able to explore parts of the ship alone?
Once you have been assigned to a group, you must stay with that group the entire day.
Will I be able to leave the tour early, if necessary?
You are allowed to leave the tour early if you like, but you will not be able to return after leaving.
Can I purchase lunch?
There is a food truck on the pier at about 1:00 p.m.
