Contra Costa County Capacity Building Network (CCC-CBN) Symposium


Open to representatives from public institutions and community-based organizations that work together to build stronger services for individuals returning to the community after incarceration and the families that support them.









Interactive Peer Learning Sessions 


We will utilize this peer learning circle to share resources and information about 3 key nonprofit management topics.  Information and resources will be drawn from the fields of substance use treatment, linkage to care programs, employment, housing and criminal justice. Participants will have a chance to share from their own experiences, learn from other reentry service providers, and gather resources from the facilitator.


Peer Learning Session #1:  Best and Model Reentry Practices


Participants in this peer learning circle will:



  • Learn at least one new model reentry practice applicable to their work

  • Gather information about state and national resource centers or clearinghouses that provide materials and resources about model reentry practices


  • Connect with at least one additional reentry provider in Contra Costa County



 Peer Learning Session #2: Nonprofit Board Development


Participants in this peer learning circle will:




  • Develop and/or strengthen relationships between peer participants


  • Gain knowledge and leadership tips from the experiences, expertise and resources shared by peer participants


  • Receive a Nonprofit Board Toolkit


  • Receive a free, one-on-one consultation with JLG consultant, upon request.


Peer Learning Session #3: Budget and Financial Reporting


Participants in this peer learning circle will:



  • Learn the key things to consider when developing an organization budget

  • Identify who should be involved in the planning of the budget

  • Discuss steps to manage the budget

  • Understand the basic concepts of the financial reports (statement of activity, balance sheet, and cash flow statements)
