Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework to support schools in adopting and organizing evidence-based positive behavioral interventions and supports. PBIS's data-driven process provides a foundation for positive, respectful, and equitable schools that results in improved academic and behavioral outcomes for all students.


Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) and Check In/Check Out (CICO)


The team trainings will guide school teams through the development and implementation of a Check In/Check Out system for Tier 2 intervention. The training sequence includes:



  • Development of Check in / Check out “CICO” system and other Tier 2 interventions

  • Student identification process and participation criteria

  • Data-based decision making and precise problem solving


Please note: Tier 1 is a series of four training dates. Each training is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration from 8-8:30 a.m. The group cost includes all four sessions for a team of 4-6. School administrators need to register school teams.

8:30 AM - 3 PM (Registration 8-8:30 AM)


Team composition:



  • Site administrator REQUIRED; special education team representative (i.e. psychologist, speech language pathologist, resource teacher), specialty teacher (i.e., TOSA, library teacher, PE or Art, Reading Intervention) plus one additional general education staff member

  • Morning coffee (no breakfast) and lunch 

  • Materials provided electronically

  • $3,400 for teams of 4-6 includes 4 trainings

    Breakdown of cost with Eventbrite service fees:
    Paying with purchase order/check: $3,415.95 (Base $3,400; Eventbrite maximum fee $15.95 = $3,415.95)

    Paying with credit card: $3,517.95 (Base cost $3,400; Credit card fee [3%] $102; Eventbrite maximum service fee $15.95 = $3,517.95)



  • $4,150 for teams of 4-6 includes 4 trainings PLUS 4 coaching sessions

    Breakdown of cost with Eventbrite service fees:
    Total cost with purchase order/check: $4,165.95 (Base $4,150; Eventbrite maximum fee $15.95 = $4,165.95)

    Total cost with credit card: $4,290.45 (Base cost $4,150; Credit card fee [3%] $124.50; Eventbrite maximum service fee $15.95 = $4,290.45)

    Note:
    All payments are preferred to be received seven days prior to the first training on October 16, 2018.  If you are paying by check or purchase order, please print out your online registration confirmation and attach it to your purchase order or check. Please make your check or purchase order payable to San Mateo County Office of Education (we are NO longer using County School Service Fund).
