Disaster Supplies for District 7 Residents
If you're a resident of San Francisco Supervisorial District 7 (Sup. Norman Yee's district), ask yourself this question: If a major earthquake hits, will you be ready? How about your neighbors?
The Inner Sunset/Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) wants to help you be ready! Thanks to a grant from Sup. Yee's Participatory Budgeting program, we will be giving away 30 free Recology-sized wheeled containers (like the ones you use for trash, recycling, and compost) stocked with some key emergency supplies to residents of Supervisorial District 7.
What's in the bin? Examples of items it might include are emergency gas and water shut-off tools, gloves, lanterns, batteries, a portable radio, heavy-duty trash bags (to serve as toilet liners if needed), flashlights, first aid kits, or other items. There should be space for you to add other supplies as you see fit. (Note: the image at the top of the page is just an example, not an exact depiction of our bins.)
When the Big One hits, you'll be better prepared and can give your neighbors items if they need them. If you're in District 7, you're willing to host a bin in your garage or on your property, and you'll share with your neighbors in a crisis, please register on this site so we can contact you when they're ready. One bin per household, please.
Please note: Registering does not guarantee you a bin. We'll have to confirm District 7 residency and we hope to pick recipients strategically so that the bins are spread around the geographic area. We'll let you know when the bins are ready so we can arrange delivery, sometime in the next 6 months, we hope.
